Justin's birthday, just a little late

Lunches

So this is what it takes to feed the school kids for 3 days, not even the whole week.  I have tried to give them different types of sandwiches, no go except for Courtney who will eat bologna,  we even have thermoses,  they just want PB&J.

Crazy hair day

We had crazy hair day at the elementary school yesterday.

James and Bevan with almost matching hair.

This is my favorite shot, all the color and messyness.

I wish I had gotten a picture of Courtney before she left for school.  The blue did not stay in her hair very well.  But I still think it looks cool. 

Little Boys

James found the Hot Dog Cooker in the cabinet, so we had to cook some hot dogs. Then he invited 2 friends over so they just had to stay for lunch.

Following Dr's Orders

This is what you get when you follow the Dr's orders. 
Apparently, I am allergic to Surgical tape. 
Rash, open sores, and I only had it on for 48 hours. 
And it itched for the whole 48 hours.  So glad to have it all off.

What we do for fun

In case you were wondering what the Brooksby Family does for fun, here are the pictures from the aftermath.

We were batting the apples over the fence.  The ones on the ground are the ones we missed or pieces of apples that were hit over the fence. 
It was a lot of fun,  granted we were covered in apple juice, apple sauce by the end of it. 

You have to thin the apple off the tree some how.

Rockets

We also went to see ATK's Display of rockets on Memorial day.
When we were driving by to get to the parking lot we had to pass the rockets.  James started chanting "No, No, Stop, Stop"
He was very excited to stop and see them.

Some rocket,  there were so many I don't remember what they are all for.

Unfortunaly, we were not able to see this.  This happened last week.  It would have been so cool to see them test a rocket. 

Golden Spike National Historic Site

For Memorial Day we went to see the Golden Spike
We got there in time to see the reenactment about the day the two Train lines came together

James first day of school

James about 9:45 this morning because he was ready.

Getting in the car to go.
Taking off his backpack and finding his hook.

Stitting in class waiting for me to leave.
Getting off the bus.
He does not remember what he did, but he had fun and wants to go back tomorrow, so I figure it is all good.

Back to school

Here are the kids on the first day of school.

The difference between boys and girls.

James has finally noticed the difference between boys and girls.

Anna called today to see if she could play. James said sure come on over. After handing me the phone,
James says: "I have to get cleaned up"
Me: "I am pretty sure Anna will want to play in the sandbox too."
James: "No I have to get cleaned up."
Me: "Okay"

So a minute later James comes in all washed up.
James: "I have to change my clothes"
Me: "Okay" Trying really hard not to smile to widely at him.

A couple of minutes later James comes up in clean clothes asking if they were good.

It was so funny.

Then they went down stairs to play WII



He never did this playing WII with the boys.
Never needed to get "cleaned up" for the boys either.

Anna has been over before, but this is the first time it has just been Anna and James.

Yard work

Saturday was yard work day.
The kids have been pulling out all the rocks in the flower beds so they could lay down the weed barrier. Then put all the rocks back.

I cut down the 2 pine bushes beside the front steps.

After, it looks so much better, you can now use the hand rails and more light from the porch light makes it to the front walk.

This is how it looked for a week while they were pulling the rock out.

The kids working.The weed barrier is down and the rocks are back in the flower bed. Only there were not enough rocks to cover the entire flower bed. Lost some and we laid them down thicker. So we get to order a dump truck of rock. :)
