I will offend

I have to start with I am not perfect, I have not lived a sinless life.  I have weaknesses of my own,  I know that no one is perfect.

The trend of leggins annoys me, I do not find it appropriate, same with skinny jeans, maxi skirts worn tight, short skirts, Maxi dresses worn tight, and, tight shirts.  I am very blessed in the chest department.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a t-shirt that doesn't show bra lines.  And other lines.

I believe tight clothing is inappropriate,  A women's body is a temple a blessed gift given to us so we can bring children in to the world and feed them for as long as we desire. In my opinion tight clothing tells the Lord that we don't care about the gift he has given us.

For the Strength of Youth

Your body is sacred. Respect it and do not defile it in any way. Through your dress and appearance, you can show that you know how precious your body is. You can show that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ and that you love Him.


Prophets of God have continually counseled His children to dress modestly. When you are well groomed and modestly dressed, you invite the companionship of the Spirit and you can be a good influence on others. Your dress and grooming influence the way you and others act.

Never lower your standards of dress. Do not use a special occasion as an excuse to be immodest. When you dress immodestly, you send a message that is contrary to your identity as a son or daughter of God. You also send the message that you are using your body to get attention and approval.

Immodest clothing is any clothing that is tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner. Young women should avoid short shorts and short skirts, shirts that do not cover the stomach, and clothing that does not cover the shoulders or is low-cut in the front or the back. Young men should also maintain modesty in their appearance. Young men and young women should be neat and clean and avoid being extreme or inappropriately casual in clothing, hairstyle, and behavior. They should choose appropriately modest apparel when participating in sports. The fashions of the world will change, but the Lord’s standards will not change.

So as a mother is it within my rights to ask the girls who come into my home to dress in a more modest way? My boys deal with it every day 7 days a week,  They see it at school, at church, at the store, everywhere.   How do I reconcile wanting the girls to feel loved and welcomed, when they visit,  while still maintaining my standards and not exposing my boys to those visuals in their own home?

I did,  I informed 2 girls that  I would prefer they dress differently in my home. or at least unstuck the shirt to cover as much as they could.  There was some backlash that has been settled.  I informed another girl today, mostly in case the first girls told her, and felt picked on because I spoke to them and not the second girl.  

What do I do?

Did I do the right thing?

Should I but out, mind my own business?

Do I have the right to tell another's child how to dress?

First Day Of School

Here they are in no particular order.
Courtney starting Middle school, a 6th Grader this year

It has been a while, I am starting here and do more over the next couple of weeks.

Cascade Lake

We spent 5 days in a cabin up at Cascade Lake in Idaho So nice, relaxing, and quiet.
Here is a picture from the top of the stairs.

We got 2 rubber rafts.   The kids had fun.  Dave and Grandpa W. made oars for the rafts and they worked really well.

We got a canoe and a kayak  Everyone got the chance to row across the lake in one of them. 

The stairs down to the water.  We lost a foot to a foot and a half of water while we were there.  Hopefully it helped farmers finish out the growing season. 

Dave and Jordan caught 4 fish.

We had a blast and came back relaxed and ready for school to start. 

Courtney turns 10

So Our Baby Girl turned 10 at the beginning of the month. Here she is opening her presents from the family. She was very confused when her brothers gave her earrings. But was equally excited when she found out mom was taking her to get her ears pierced later in the day.
